The OpenHosting core routing is performed by Cisco Catalyst 6500 devices fitted with SUP720-3BXL supervisor modules, configured in a fully redudent manner with dual power supplies, and atleast 4x 10gigabit ethernet interfaces. Also configured in full redundency mode, their core switches sub-distribute 2x 1Gbps feeds to the switches in each of their 35 secure 47u Knurr server cabinets where all servers connect at 100Mbps Full Duplex. Core applications such as Database and Backup services are connected to the network at 1Gbps.
Their shared hosting infrastructure is protected by multiple Cisco PIX 515e firewall appliances, which offer the most comprehensive security capabilities available in the industry.
External Connectivity
All external carrier and peering connections operate at a minimum of 1,000Mbps. They provide an uncontended service and always maintain atleast 10Gbps of spare capacity in order to maintain a high quality of service during peak usage times.
They are full members of the London Internet Exchange (LINX), over which 90% of their UK traffic is distributed. Their membership to LINX results in next-hop connectivity to the majority of UK ISPs and a significant number of international providers. Their connection to LINX operates over 10Gbps fibre.
